Technology Resources & Opportunities 

At the Laurel Community Center, we strive to offer as many resources and opportunities as we can to our community and beyond. We currently offer several technology resources including housing the Fiber Optic Internet Hub for the French Broad Electric Membership Corporative (FBEMC) that serves 800+ households and businesses, campus-wide Wi-Fi (both inside and outside), French Board Internet Room accessible daily from 7 AM - 7 PM with two desktops furnished by FBEMC and a printer, and the CORI Room (Center Of Rural Innovation) for classes. We also have other technology available upon request.

Thanks to a grant from the Glass Foundation, the Laurel Community Center has a newly renovated computer lab for online and in-person learning in the form of classes and workshops. This room is equipped with an energy-efficient heating and cooling unit, smart TV, laptops, adult size tables and chairs, Fiber Optic Internet, and a projector. This room will soon be available to rent on a sliding scale fee basis. So, let us know if you are interested in holding your next class or workshop in this new great space!     

French Broad Internet Room
Open Daily 7 AM - 7 PM

The newly renovated French Broad Internet Room at the Laurel Community Center is open daily from 7 AM - 7 PM for community use. The space provides a warm atmosphere with 2 desktop computers furnished by French Board Electric Membership Corporative, a printer, table, couches, restroom and TV. This spaces is for students and adults alike as we want everyone in our community to have access to the Internet.
